Using tea tree oil to clean your washing machine

Your washing machine is one of those appliances that get used on a daily basis (if you’re anything like our household!). School uniforms, sports clothes, gym gear and everyday clothing are constantly being run through the laundry.

With such heavy use on this particular appliance, sometimes it’s hard to air out and freshen up your washing machine to keep it in tip-top shape.

One way of keeping your laundry fresh is to clean your washing machine with tea tree oil. All you need to do is simply add a few drops of oil to a damp cloth and wipe out the inside drum of your washing machine – then leave the lid or door open to air out for an hour or so.

This cleaning method is also very useful for removing mold or mildew on any of your washing machine’s seals – this will help keep your appliance in great working order and smelling fresh.

A lot of front loading washing machines have removable detergent/fabric softener dispensers which can often get moldy – Simply wash your dispenser in a solution of hot water containing a few drops of tea tree oil and leave in the sun to dry completely.
