Tea tree oil household spray is great for cleaning and deodorising

Tea tree oil is like a ‘medicine cabinet in a bottle’, with effective antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties. Tea tree oil comes from the melaleuca tree (native to Australia), and its antibacterial properties make it great as a household cleaner. This essential oil is great for killing off mould and mildew, and perfect for eliminating nasty smells and odours.

Tea tree oil household uses - cleaning spray

Here’s how to make your own tea tree oil spray:-

  • Put 2 teaspoons of pure 100% tea tree oil in a spray bottle, add two cups of water.
  • Spray the mixture on something musty.
  • Let the smell dissipate.

After a few days the smell of mould and must will be gone thanks to the tea tree oil spray. You can store the leftover mixture in the spray bottle, ready to use next time.

Tea tree oil grout spray

Using the above method for tea tree oil spray, you can use this solution to repel mould and mildew that forms on the grout on your bathroom tiles. This formula won’t take away the discolouration, but it will kill the mould and prevent it from growing further.

Tea tree oil household antiseptic spray

Using the above formula, you can spray this in and around areas where you would normally use an antiseptic solution, such as on door knobs, taps etc. to prevent transmission of colds and flu, or you could spray it around a room after someone has vomited.

This spray solution is also great for deodorising bathroom areas and bin smells in the kitchen.

3 ½ cups water
½ cup white vinegar
½ cup borax
½ teaspoon lavender essential oil
½ teaspoon tea tree essential oil

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and then pour into a plastic spray bottle. (It’s probably best to use a new, fresh spray bottle rather than one that’s had other chemical cleaners in it to avoid contamination.)

You can use this lavender and tea tree oil spray to disinfect your household... it smells so good!
